Ingredients
Scale
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/4 cup crushed candy canes (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Melt the chocolate chips. You can do this in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, or use a double boiler.
Once the chocolate is smooth, stir in the peppermint extract.
Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into an even layer, about 1/4 inch thick.
If using, sprinkle the crushed candy canes evenly over the melted chocolate.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until the bark is completely firm.
Once firm, break the bark into pieces.
Notes
Ensure your chocolate is completely melted and smooth before adding the extract.
For a smoother finish, gently tap the baking sheet on the counter after spreading the chocolate.
Store the peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
