Ingredients
Scale
1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
2 green onions, sliced
Cooked white rice, for serving
Instructions
In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced steak with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add the steak to the skillet and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, combine 1/2 cup soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, oyster sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring until the brown sugar dissolves.
Return the steak to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the steak is heated through.
Stir in the sliced green onions.
Serve immediately over cooked white rice.
Notes
For best results, slice the steak against the grain.
You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
Add your favorite vegetables like broccoli or bell peppers for extra flavor and nutrition.
