Make crispy, flavorful lemon pepper wings using your air fryer. This recipe provides simple steps for perfectly cooked wings without deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning blend
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry using paper towels. This step is key for crispiness.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the dried wings with the baking powder, salt, black pepper, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder until evenly coated.
  3. Lightly drizzle the seasoned wings with the oil and toss again to distribute the oil thinly.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 18 minutes.
  7. Flip the wings. Increase the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toss the hot wings with 1 tablespoon of melted butter mixed with extra lemon zest after cooking.
  • If you do not have pre-made lemon pepper seasoning, combine 2 parts coarse salt, 1 part black pepper, 1 part dried lemon zest, and 1/2 part garlic powder.
  • Cooking time may vary based on your air fryer model and the size of your wings. Check for doneness before serving.
