Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped ripe bananas (about 2 medium)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped bananas and chocolate chips, if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared skillet, spreading it evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  9. Let the skillet cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
  10. Serve warm with ice cream or your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy brownie, you can add an extra 1/4 cup of cocoa powder.
  • Ripe bananas will provide the best flavor and sweetness.
  • Feel free to add nuts like walnuts or pecans along with the chocolate chips.
