Ingredients
Scale
2 Ham Steaks (about 1/2 inch thick)
1/4 cup Brown Sugar (packed)
2 tablespoons Water
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1 teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar
Pinch of Ground Cloves (optional)
Instructions
Pat the ham steaks dry with paper towels.
In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, water, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and cloves (if using).
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves and the glaze thickens slightly, about 3 to 4 minutes. Do not boil rapidly.
Place the ham steaks in a large skillet over medium heat.
Cook the ham steaks for 3 minutes per side until heated through.
Brush half of the glaze evenly over the top of the ham steaks.
Flip the steaks carefully and cook for 1 minute.
Brush the remaining glaze over the second side. Cook for 1 more minute.
Remove from heat immediately and serve.
Notes
Ensure your ham steaks are somewhat uniform in thickness for even cooking.
If the glaze seems too thick, add water one teaspoon at a time until you reach a brushable consistency.
This glaze works well as a dipping sauce if you prefer to brush it on after cooking.
