Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs salmon fillets, skin on or off
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Pinch of salt and black pepper
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until well combined. This is your glaze.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. This helps the glaze stick better.
Place the salmon on the prepared baking sheet. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Brush the brown sugar glaze generously over the top of each salmon fillet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your salmon. The glaze should be bubbly and slightly caramelized.
Remove from the oven and let it rest for 2 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can broil the salmon for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning the sugar.
If you prefer a thicker glaze, reduce the soy sauce slightly or increase the brown sugar by 1 teaspoon.
This recipe pairs well with steamed rice and roasted asparagus.
