These Brownie Batter Blondies give you the best of both worlds: the rich, fudgy texture of a brownie combined with the sweet, vanilla base of a blondie. You get a truly decadent, gooey treat that is simple to make and guaranteed to please a crowd.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and both sugars until they are fully combined and smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the salt and baking powder. Add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the flour until no streaks remain. Do not overmix the batter.
  6. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The edges should look set, but the center should still be slightly soft and gooey.
  9. Let the blondies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment overhang.
  10. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For the fudgiest texture, slightly underbake them; they will firm up as they cool.
  • Do not use cold butter; make sure it is fully melted.
  • You can substitute half the chocolate chips with white chocolate or peanut butter chips for variation.
