  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, toasted
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat sesame oil and vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  3. Add beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2-3 minutes. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  4. Add onion to the skillet and stir-fry until softened, about 3 minutes.
  5. Add garlic, ginger, and cinnamon; stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, honey, and rice vinegar.
  7. Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  8. Return beef to the skillet and toss to coat. Cook for 1 minute until sauce thickens.
  9. Stir in toasted sesame seeds.
  10. Serve immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Feel free to add your favorite stir-fry vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli.
