Make crispy, sweet, and spiced pecans using your oven. This simple recipe is perfect for snacking, holiday gifts, or topping salads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg white and water together until slightly frothy.
  3. Add the pecans to the egg white mixture and toss until the nuts are evenly coated.
  4. In a separate small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the coated pecans and toss gently until all the pecans are covered with the spice mixture.
  6. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to prevent burning and promote even cooking.
  8. Remove from the oven when the coating looks dry and the pecans are fragrant.
  9. Let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.
  10. Break apart any clusters before storing.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can bake them for an additional 5 minutes, watching closely.
  • Store cooled pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
  • If you want a sweet and salty flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of fine sea salt to the pecan mixture.
