A comforting and classic tuna noodle casserole recipe. This dish features tender egg noodles, flaky tuna, a creamy sauce, and a cheesy topping. It’s perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a potluck favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of celery soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. While the noodles are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, milk, lemon juice, black pepper, and salt. Stir until well combined.
  5. Add the cooked egg noodles and half of the shredded cheddar cheese to the soup mixture. Stir gently to coat everything evenly.
  6. Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top. If using, sprinkle crushed potato chips or breadcrumbs over the cheese.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  9. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Add in some frozen peas or corn for extra vegetables.
  • A pinch of paprika can add a nice color to the topping.
