- 1.5 lb Brussels sprouts
- 3 Tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
- Prepare the Brussels sprouts by trimming off the stem ends and removing any loose or yellow outer leaves.
- Cut the sprouts in half lengthwise.
- Dry the sprouts thoroughly using paper towels. This step is key for crispiness.
- In a large bowl, toss the halved sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Spread the sprouts in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary.
- Roast for 20 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese (and minced garlic, if using) evenly over the sprouts.
- Return the pan to the oven and roast for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the sprouts are tender inside and the cheese is melted and browned.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For maximum crispiness, ensure the cut sides of the sprouts face down on the baking sheet during the initial roasting period.
- If the sprouts are very large, consider quartering them instead of halving them.
- If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, mix the minced garlic with the oil before tossing with the sprouts.
