Make incredibly tender, juicy steak bites with minimal effort using your slow cooker. This easy crockpot steak recipe features a rich garlic butter sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed sirloin steak into the bottom of your slow cooker. Sprinkle evenly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over the steak. Do not stir.
  3. Scatter the pieces of butter evenly over the top of the steak. Add the minced garlic.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours, or on HIGH for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the steak is fork-tender.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry.
  6. Remove the lid. Stir the soy sauce into the slow cooker juices. Pour the cornstarch slurry into the liquid in the slow cooker and stir gently to combine with the sauce.
  7. Increase the slow cooker setting to HIGH (if it was on LOW) and cook uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens into a rich gravy.
  8. Serve the tender crockpot steak bites immediately over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For a complete meal, add 1 pound of small red potatoes and 1 cup of sliced carrots to the slow cooker along with the steak before cooking.
  • If you prefer a richer flavor, substitute half of the beef broth with dry red wine.
  • To achieve the best ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ texture, avoid cooking the steak longer than 4 hours on LOW.
