- 1 loaf French or Italian bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic powder, dried parsley, and salt. Mix until the ingredients are fully incorporated into a spread.
- Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of both bread halves.
- If using, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the buttered surfaces.
- Place the bread halves directly on a baking sheet, butter-side up.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the butter is melted and bubbly.
- For extra crispiness, switch the oven to broil for the last 1 to 2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven, slice into individual servings, and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a stronger garlic flavor, increase the garlic powder to 3 teaspoons.
- You can add 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder to the butter mixture for more depth.
- If you prefer soft bread, wrap the loaf loosely in foil before baking for the first 8 minutes, then unwrap to brown the top.
