Ingredients
Scale
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
For Decoration:
1 (16 ounce) package chocolate frosting
1 cup Oreo cookie crumbs
1/4 cup candy pumpkins or candy ghosts
1/4 cup Milano cookies, broken into pieces (for tombstone shapes)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and unsweetened baking chocolate together. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat.
In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined.
Stir the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar and egg mixture. Add the vanilla extract and mix.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
Once cooled, spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the top of the brownies.
Sprinkle the Oreo cookie crumbs over the frosting to create the ‘dirt’ effect for the graveyard.
Arrange the candy pumpkins or candy ghosts on top of the crumbs.
Place the broken Milano cookie pieces into the ‘dirt’ to resemble tombstones.
Notes
For richer brownies, use high-quality unsweetened baking chocolate.
Ensure your brownies are completely cooled before frosting to prevent the frosting from melting.
Get creative with your tombstone decorations! You can write names on the Milano cookies with edible marker if desired.
