Transform leftover ham and sharp cheddar into delightful Glazed Ham and Cheddar Popovers. These fluffy bites are perfect for holiday brunch or a savory snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup finely diced cooked ham
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or use popover pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Gently fold in the diced ham and shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the popovers are puffed, golden brown, and set.
  8. Remove from the oven and serve immediately. Garnish with fresh chives if desired.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure your oven is fully preheated before baking.
  • Do not open the oven door during the first 15-20 minutes of baking, as this can cause the popovers to deflate.
  • These popovers are best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in a warm oven for a few minutes.
