This is a comforting, old-school ground beef casserole with egg noodles, a rich sauce, and melted cheese, just like Grandma used to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 ounces uncooked egg noodles
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the condensed tomato soup, condensed cream of mushroom soup, water, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then stir in the uncooked egg noodles.
  5. Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Cover the baking dish with foil.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the noodles are tender and the casserole is bubbly.
  8. Remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  9. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.

Notes

  • For an extra creamy casserole, you can substitute the water with milk.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like peas or carrots for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • If you prefer a spicier casserole, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
