Make easy, crowd-pleasing ham and cheese sliders using sweet Hawaiian rolls, topped with a simple, savory honey mustard glaze and baked until golden.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1 pound thinly sliced deli ham
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese (or provolone)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the rolls connected in one piece. Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Layer the ham evenly over the bottom half of the rolls. Top the ham with the slices of cheese, covering the entire surface.
  4. Place the top half of the rolls onto the cheese layer. Gently press the top down.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and onion powder until combined. This is your glaze.
  6. Pour or brush the honey mustard glaze evenly over the top surface of the sliders. Sprinkle with poppy seeds if you are using them.
  7. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes covered. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops are lightly browned.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the sliders rest for 5 minutes before slicing them between the individual rolls. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute Swiss cheese with provolone or mild cheddar for different flavor profiles.
  • For extra flavor, add a thin layer of mayonnaise to the bottom half of the rolls before adding the ham.
  • If you prefer a tangier glaze, increase the Dijon mustard slightly.
