Ingredients

  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar, or to taste
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
  • Mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place dried hibiscus flowers in a heatproof pitcher.
  2. Pour boiling water over the hibiscus flowers.
  3. Let steep for 5-10 minutes, or until the desired color and tartness are reached.
  4. Strain the hibiscus tea into a clean pitcher, discarding the flowers.
  5. Stir in honey or sugar until dissolved.
  6. Add cold water and stir well.
  7. Chill the tea in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Serve over ice, garnished with lemon slices or mint sprigs if desired.
