- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon black tea leaves or 4 tea bags
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 cups milk
- Combine water, sugar, and chopped ginger in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add black tea leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, and nutmeg to the saucepan. Stir well.
- Simmer for another 5-7 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove solids. Discard the solids.
- Return the liquid to the saucepan. Add milk and heat gently over medium heat until hot, but do not boil.
- Pour the chai tea latte into mugs and serve immediately.

- For a stronger ginger flavor, add more fresh ginger.

- You can use any type of milk, including dairy-free alternatives.
