Enjoy a delicious homemade strawberry crumble, a simple and rustic dessert featuring sweet, juicy strawberries baked under a buttery oat topping. It’s perfect served warm with ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 150g all-purpose flour
  • 100g rolled oats
  • 75g brown sugar
  • 100g cold unsalted butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat the strawberries evenly.
  3. Pour the strawberry mixture into a baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, rolled oats, and brown sugar.
  5. Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture.
  6. Use your fingertips or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  7. Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the strawberries in the baking dish.
  8. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the strawberry filling is bubbly.
  9. Let the crumble cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer crumble, add 50g chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the topping mixture.
  • If your strawberries are very sweet, you can reduce the granulated sugar in the filling slightly.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the best experience.
