- 2 large pita breads
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut each pita bread in half, then cut each half into 4 wedges, creating 8 wedges per pita.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic powder, and salt.
- Place the pita wedges in a medium bowl. Drizzle the olive oil mixture over the pita wedges and toss gently to coat evenly.
- Spread the coated pita wedges in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and starting to crisp.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and diced jalapeño evenly over the pita chips.
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for another 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the chips cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes to crisp up further before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier chip, leave some of the jalapeño seeds in.
- You can substitute Monterey Jack or a Mexican blend cheese for the cheddar.
- Serve immediately with your favorite salsa, guacamole, or dip.
