Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Optional toppings: green onions, sesame seeds, kimchi

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and black pepper.
  2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the marinated beef in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
  6. Serve the bulgogi over cooked rice.
  7. Add your favorite toppings like green onions, sesame seeds, or kimchi.

Notes

  • For best results, use thinly sliced beef. You can often find pre-sliced beef for bulgogi at Asian markets.
  • Adjust the brown sugar to your sweetness preference.
  • Marinating time can be adjusted based on your schedule.
