Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Tilapia fillets
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups Cooked white rice

Instructions

  1. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with a paper towel. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the tilapia fillets to the hot skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to low. Add the butter to the same skillet. Let it melt.
  5. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  6. Pour in the fresh lemon juice and stir in the lemon zest. Cook for 1 minute, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  7. Return the tilapia fillets to the skillet. Spoon the lemon butter sauce over the fish.
  8. Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the fish and sauce.
  9. Serve the Lemon Butter Tilapia immediately over the cooked white rice.

Notes

  • Ensure your tilapia fillets are dry before cooking for a better sear.
  • Use fresh lemon juice; bottled juice changes the flavor profile.
  • Adjust the amount of lemon zest based on your preference for brightness.
