This recipe transforms plain broccoli into a bright, savory side dish. Roasting gives the florets crisp edges, while lemon zest and Parmesan cheese add big flavor. You will make broccoli appealing for everyone around your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the broccoli florets on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil over the broccoli. Toss to coat the florets evenly.
  4. Sprinkle the salt and pepper over the broccoli. Toss again.
  5. Roast for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove the pan from the oven. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the broccoli.
  7. Return the pan to the oven and roast for 5 to 7 minutes more, until the cheese is melted and the edges of the broccoli are slightly charred.
  8. Remove from the oven. Immediately toss the hot broccoli with the fresh lemon zest and the juice from the lemon.
  9. Serve right away.

Notes

  • Ensure your oven is fully preheated for the best roasting results.
  • Do not overcrowd the baking sheet; use two sheets if necessary to allow the broccoli to crisp rather than steam.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best melting quality and flavor.
