Create an impressive potato side dish with thinly sliced potatoes layered with butter, cream, and seasoning for a tender, flavorful result.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, melted butter, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Arrange a layer of potato slices in the prepared baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
  5. Pour about one-third of the cream mixture over the potato layer.
  6. Repeat layering with potatoes and cream mixture two more times, ending with a layer of potatoes.
  7. Pour any remaining cream mixture over the top.
  8. If using, sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top.
  9. Cover the dish tightly with foil.
  10. Bake for 45 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  12. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use a mandoline or a very sharp knife to slice the potatoes thinly and evenly.
  • You can add other seasonings like paprika, onion powder, or fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary.
  • If you don’t have Yukon Gold potatoes, russet potatoes can also be used, but they may require a slightly longer baking time.
