Elevate your burger game with these juicy Mushroom and Swiss Beef Burgers. This recipe features perfectly seasoned beef patties topped with savory sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese, making it an irresistible choice for any burger lover.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or a skillet to medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and pepper. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic during the last minute of cooking. Remove mushrooms from skillet and set aside.
  4. Grill or cook the burger patties for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese and allow it to melt.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with the sautéed mushrooms and the top half of the bun.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of thyme or rosemary to the mushrooms while sautéing.
  • If grilling, you can place the mushrooms on a foil packet on the grill to sauté while the burgers cook.
  • Consider toasting your hamburger buns for a better texture.
