- 3 ripe bananas
- 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother dipping)
- 2 tablespoons chopped nuts or sprinkles (optional topping)
- Peel the bananas and slice them into rounds about 1/2 inch thick.
- Arrange the banana slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze the banana slices for at least 2 hours, or until completely solid.
- Place the chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Melt the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth.
- Remove the frozen banana slices from the freezer.
- Dip each frozen banana slice into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. You can use a fork to dip and lift.
- Place the coated bites back onto the parchment-lined sheet.
- Immediately sprinkle with chopped nuts or sprinkles, if desired.
- Return the bites to the freezer for at least 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set hard.
- Serve directly from the freezer.
Notes
- For easier handling, insert a toothpick into the banana slice before dipping it in chocolate.
- If you want a dairy-free option, use dairy-free chocolate chips.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer.
