Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
8 ounces wide egg noodles
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Add the chopped onion and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook until the onion softens, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir well for 1 minute.
Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Add the egg noodles to the skillet, ensuring they are mostly submerged in the liquid. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the noodles are tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the sour cream until fully combined and the sauce is creamy. Do not boil after adding sour cream.
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving immediately.
Notes
Use wide egg noodles as they cook quickly and absorb the sauce well in this short time frame.
For a richer flavor, use low-sodium beef broth and adjust the added salt to your taste.
Stir the noodles frequently during the cooking time to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
