Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves or pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup softened butter and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt, mixing until just combined to form a dough.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the packed brown sugar, 1/2 cup melted butter, eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon salt until smooth.
  6. Stir in the pecans.
  7. Pour the pecan mixture evenly over the crust.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the edges are golden brown.
  9. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use pecan pieces instead of halves.
  • Ensure the bars are completely cooled before cutting for clean edges.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
