1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
Optional: Flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Press the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of a 10-inch cast-iron skillet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is still slightly soft.
If desired, sprinkle flaky sea salt over the top immediately after removing from the oven.
Let the cookie cool in the skillet for at least 10 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
For an extra gooey center, slightly underbake the cookie.
Serve directly from the skillet with ice cream for a decadent treat.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
