Ingredients

Scale
  • 3-4 pound beef brisket
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef brisket in your slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Pour the liquid mixture over the brisket.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours, until the brisket is tender and easily shredded.
  5. Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
  6. Return the shredded brisket to the slow cooker and stir to coat with the cooking liquid.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, you can add a sliced onion or a few sprigs of fresh thyme to the slow cooker.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can remove the brisket and shred it, then simmer the cooking liquid on the stovetop to reduce it.
  • This brisket is delicious served on buns for sandwiches, over rice, or with your favorite side dishes.
