A recipe for making coffee shop-style strawberry cream cold brew at home using homemade strawberry syrup and cold foam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup strong cold brew coffee concentrate
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Make the strawberry syrup: Combine strawberries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and strawberries soften, about 10 minutes. Mash the strawberries slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on solids to extract liquid. Discard solids. Let the syrup cool completely.
  2. Prepare the cold brew: Fill a glass with ice. Pour 1/2 cup of the cold brew concentrate over the ice. Add 2 tablespoons of the cooled strawberry syrup to the coffee and stir.
  3. Make the cold foam: In a small bowl or using a handheld frother, combine the heavy cream, milk, and remaining 1 tablespoon of strawberry syrup. Whisk or froth until the mixture is thick and slightly foamy.
  4. Assemble the drink: Gently pour the strawberry cream foam over the top of the cold brew mixture. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free option, substitute the heavy cream and milk with full-fat canned coconut cream or a thick oat milk creamer.
  • If you prefer a stronger coffee flavor, increase the cold brew concentrate amount or use less water when making the syrup.
  • The strawberry syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
