A comforting and classic Tater Tot Casserole, also known as hotdish. This easy family dinner features a savory ground beef and vegetable filling topped with crispy tater tots, baked until golden and bubbly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 bag (16 ounces) frozen tater tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Add the frozen mixed vegetables to the skillet and stir to combine.
  5. Pour the beef and vegetable mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange the frozen tater tots evenly over the top of the mixture.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy, and the casserole is bubbly.
  8. Let it stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra cheesy casserole, sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots before baking.
  • You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup if preferred.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like corn, green beans, or diced potatoes.
