Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 9-inch tart shell, pre-baked
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1.5 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange the pecan halves in a single layer in the pre-baked tart shell.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the cranberries, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cornstarch, orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir gently until the cranberries are evenly coated.
  4. Spoon the cranberry mixture over the pecans in the tart shell.
  5. Dot the top of the cranberry mixture with the small pieces of butter.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cranberry filling is bubbly and thickened.
  7. Let the tart cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free tart shell.
  • If using frozen cranberries, do not thaw them before using.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
  • A scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream makes a wonderful accompaniment.
