Make this addictive holiday snack. It delivers a perfect mix of sweet, salty, and crunchy textures. This big-batch recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for your gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups Crispy Cereal (e.g., Corn Flakes or Chex)
  • 1 cup Pretzels, roughly broken
  • 1 cup Mixed Nuts (e.g., peanuts, pecans)
  • 1 cup Bag of White Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Bag of Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup Light Corn Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a very large bowl, combine the cereal, broken pretzels, and mixed nuts. Set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a full boil. Boil for exactly one minute without stirring.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda until mixed. The mixture will foam slightly.
  5. Pour the hot mixture immediately over the cereal mixture. Stir quickly and thoroughly until everything is evenly coated. Work fast.
  6. Spread the coated mixture onto the prepared baking sheets in a thin, even layer. Do not scrape the bowl.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven.
  8. Immediately sprinkle both bags of chocolate chips evenly over the warm mixture. Let it sit for 5 minutes without touching it.
  9. After 5 minutes, use a spatula to gently spread the melted chocolate around to coat the clusters. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
  10. Let the snack cool completely on the baking sheets until the chocolate is set, about 1 hour. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try substituting some of the cereal with oyster crackers.
  • If you want a slightly less sweet version, reduce the brown sugar by 1/4 cup.
  • This snack stores well at room temperature for up to one week.
