Make a rich, creamy, and dairy-free chocolate mousse using avocado as the base. This recipe is quick and requires no baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados, pitted and scooped
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened plant milk (almond or soy)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Place the avocado flesh, cocoa powder, maple syrup, plant milk, vanilla extract, and salt into a food processor or high-speed blender.
  2. Process the ingredients, scraping down the sides as needed, until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. This may take 2 to 4 minutes depending on your machine.
  3. Taste the mousse and add more sweetener or cocoa powder if desired. Blend again briefly to combine.
  4. Divide the mousse into small serving dishes or ramekins.
  5. Chill the mousse in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For the best texture, ensure your avocados are very ripe and soft.
  • Use high-quality dark cocoa powder for the deepest chocolate flavor.
  • If you prefer a thicker mousse, reduce the amount of plant milk slightly.
  • Serve topped with fresh berries or shaved dark chocolate.
