Ingredients
Scale
4 cups cubed seedless watermelon
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 3-4 limes)
1/4 cup granulated sugar (or to taste)
2 cups cold water
Ice cubes
Watermelon wedges and basil sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Combine the cubed watermelon, basil leaves, and lime juice in a blender.
Blend until smooth.
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing gently to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids.
Stir in the granulated sugar until dissolved.
Add the cold water and stir well. Adjust sugar to your preference.
Chill the limeade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Serve over ice, garnished with watermelon wedges and basil sprigs if desired.
Notes
For a less sweet drink, reduce the sugar or omit it entirely.
If you don’t have fresh basil, you can use a small amount of dried basil, but the flavor will be different.
You can make this ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
