Make creamy, dairy-free frozen dessert using only three simple ingredients in minutes. This recipe requires no ice cream maker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas, peeled and frozen
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other plant milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Slice the frozen bananas into small chunks. Place the chunks into a strong food processor or high-powered blender.
  2. Pulse the frozen banana pieces until they break down into small crumbs. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. Add the almond milk and vanilla extract to the processor.
  4. Continue blending, stopping frequently to scrape the sides, until the mixture becomes completely smooth and resembles soft-serve ice cream. This may take 3 to 5 minutes depending on your machine.
  5. Serve immediately for a soft texture, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 30 minutes for a firmer scoopable texture.

Notes

  • For a thicker, peanut butter flavor, substitute 2 tablespoons of peanut butter for the vanilla extract.
  • If your mixture is too thick to blend, add plant milk one tablespoon at a time until the blades move freely.
  • Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness and texture.
